TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

The primary motivation for SONNET is the endless exponential traffic growth in 5G network. This traffic growth is mainly due to new emerging of machine-type communications (MTC) for the Internet of Things (IoT) which is predicated to reach tens of billions of devices by 2020.

Therefore, the main objective of SONNET are:

- How to overwhelmed exponential traffic growth demand in 5G network?

- How to achieve cost- and energy-efficient deployment and operation?

Scenario

- Coordination and aggregation of spectrum

- New supporting radio technologies
